Ford is removing some features from its vehicles due to the chip crisis!

Two Ukrainian companies, which produce more than half of the semiconductor neons used in chip production in the world, had to stop production due to Russia’s war on their country. As a result, although large companies such as TSMC and Samsung stated that they had enough stock for 2 months, small companies were on the verge of bankruptcy. Today, it was shared that some features of Ford SUVs were removed due to the chip crisis.

Technology production may stop: The chip crisis also got its share from Russia!

Russia’s war on Ukraine has caused some companies to shut down and chip crisis problems to re-emerge.

Due to the chip crisis, Ford will remove rear heating from its vehicles

Disruptions in the supply chain, which started with the pandemic in the global technology market, and situations such as raw material production and chip crisis caused factories to stop production. However, these problems were expected to be overcome by 2023.

But because Russia declared war on Ukraine, the world’s two largest suppliers of semiconductor neon have shuttered. This means that the prices of technological products will increase in the future and stock problems will begin.

Because, according to the statement made by Ford today, the company will offer Explorer series SUVs without the chips that power the rear air conditioning and heating controls, that is, by temporarily removing these features from the vehicle, due to the chip crisis.

However, when the company receives the chips within the next year, customers will be able to bring their vehicles back to the dealers and have these heating systems installed. Of course, even though they will encounter a more affordable price tag when buying the vehicle, since these heating systems will not be available, they will probably make this payment when they return their vehicle within 1 year.

Last year, Ford stopped the production of the F-150, the most popular pickup truck in the USA, due to the chip crisis, and then restarted it by pulling back the numbers on the production line. However, it had sold the vehicle without the start-stop system to people who wanted to buy it.

Similarly, due to this disruption in the supply chain, GM had to remove wireless charging, HD radios and a fuel management module that allows vehicles to run more efficiently. Even Tesla was trying to circumvent this problem by launching vehicles without a USB port (which could be plugged in later in a Ford-like method). Cadillac has removed the hands-free driving feature in the Escalade model.
