One of the important milestones in Turkey’s domestic and national defense industry journey is the ATAK series helicopters. ATAK-2, the most up-to-date version of the ATAK helicopters family, produced in partnership with TAI and the Presidency of Defense Industries, made its first flight today. The first public presentation of ATAK-2 was made on Wednesday. TUSAŞ CEO Temel Kotil attended the “Teknofest Stakeholders Meet with Youth Programme” event held in Üsküdar. Kotil, who made a mini presentation to the participating students, stated that the first engine start of the ATAK-2 helicopter was made last Monday night. Two days later, the first flight of ATAK-2 was made today.
The news that came today confirmed the statement made by the company and project engineers. The engineers involved in the project stated at the “Teknofest Stakeholders Meet with Youth Program” event that the first flight test for ATAK-2 would be held this week. ATAK-2, which is one of the milestones for our defense industry, has imaging systems that will be considered the first in the world. In addition, ATAK-2 is quite adept in terms of both maneuvering and offensive capabilities.
