The former sword fencer Monika Sozanska (38) told the RTL show “Unbreakable – We make you strong” for the first time in detail about her greatest stroke of fate. In Bali, she suffered a miscarriage in the fifth month of pregnancy and has since struggled with feelings of guilt.

It wasn’t that long ago that it happened. The trauma has dominated her life ever since. The former professional athlete told the other participants (including ex-GZSZ star Jasmin Tawil and actor Christian Kahrmann) how she was stranded in Bali in March last year because of Corona, met a man there on New Year’s Eve and became pregnant a few weeks later.

Sozanska: “After the first shock, I realized that the pregnancy was a stroke of luck for me because the baby gave me a new meaning in life.” At one week of pregnancy, suddenly that her son would be born with Down syndrome.

This began a never-ending nightmare for the ex-athlete. On the program, she said, “I went through further tests and the doctors found other abnormalities.” She was told the boy was not viable.

The 38-year-old hardly had time to overcome the shock because her doctor pushed for a decision. “He asked me if I was considering an induced miscarriage.” Monika Sozanska finally decided to take this step out of consideration for her own health. They have been haunted by guilt ever since. The ex-fencer: “A heart beats and you turn off the light.”
