Berlin The FDP state chairmen want defense politician Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann as their top candidate for next year’s European elections. A corresponding agreement was reached on Monday, as the German Press Agency was told by the party.

Strack-Zimmermann is Chair of the Defense Committee in the Bundestag. The FDP youth organization had publicly proposed Strack-Zimmermann and praised her as a “cosmopolitan, courageous and assertive politician”.

The FDP will discuss the further course at a federal party conference from April 21 to 23 in Berlin. The liberal European politician and former FDP Vice-Chairman Nicola Beer is to represent Germany as Vice-President on the Executive Committee of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
