Fan heaters, wood heating or simply saving – what to do against high gas prices?

Dusseldorf The customers of the Cologne energy supplier Rheinenergie are receiving unpleasant mail these days. As of October, the basic supplier will increase its prices by an average of 133 percent – for tenants or owners of a large apartment, this now means 3,000 instead of 1,400 euros in gas costs per year.

Such increases also threaten customers of other providers in the coming weeks. Every second apartment in this country is heated with gas, and many companies are also dependent on it.

How expensive will our gas bills be this winter? How useful are heaters, for example, which are currently in high demand? And how can gas be saved? Handelsblatt editor Michael Scheppe discusses this with Udo Sieverding, energy expert at the North Rhine-Westphalia consumer advice center.

Achim Südmeier, Sales Director at Rheinenergie, also explains the background to the price increase.
