Cryptocurrency Sam Trabucco, co-CEO of Alameda Research, owned by FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, one of the leading names in the industry, announced on his Twitter account that he was leaving his post.
Trabucco said it will remain in a non-executive consulting role.
Caroline Ellison has been identified as the company’s next sole CEO.
Sam Trabucco Says He Hasn’t Been De facto CEO for a while
Trabucco said the following about his separation in his message on Twitter:
“Last year, when Sam Bankman-Fried announced that Caroline and I were co-CEO of Alameda, the common goal for all was to make titles true to life, we’ve both been acting as CEOs for a while, and we wanted our outside image to reflect that.
For the same purpose, I am announcing today that I am stepping down as co-CEO of Alameda Research. Caroline Ellison will remain as CEO of Alameda. I will remain a consultant, but other than that, I will not be a strong day-to-day presence at the company.”

Trabucco claims he has “gradually” reduced his role at Alameda because he is currently unable to devote enough time to work. He adds that he has reached a point in his life where he wants to prioritize “other things”:
“Over the past few months, I have significantly reduced my role at Alameda. This has happened gradually, and there has been a lot of time lately that I haven’t really worked at all and certainly haven’t acted as CEO of the company.
The reason for this is quite simple. I personally cannot continue to see the time investment of being a central part of Alameda as reasonable. Everyone here works really hard and it’s hard to have a “normal” time at work, especially if you’re trying to be a leader.”
The Famous CEO Will Not Move Away From The Cryptocurrency Industry
Trabucco said the following about what his next steps will be:
“What other things will I do? I’m not completely sure. I’ve been really happy lately, spending a lot of time doing things like traveling, visiting friends and family, working on “myself”.
I also bought a boat, it turned out great. I needed to relax and I am really happy.”
The famous CEO also added that he cannot completely isolate himself from the world of crypto money, but that there is no project he is currently working on.
