Berlin The expropriation of large housing companies in Berlin is possible. This is the conclusion reached by the commission of experts for the socialization of the apartments of large real estate companies in Berlin, which handed over its final report to the Berlin Senate this Wednesday. Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) said the Senate would take a close look at the 152-page report. At the same time, he expressed his skepticism about possible expropriations. Berlin needs affordable rents, he said, and announced stronger tenant protection. “What must not happen is that we stall the new engine.”
