Energy prices: Ampel plans relief

Berlin Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) drew a rather chaotic picture. “There are lots of proposals on the market,” said the Vice Chancellor when asked about possible relief for citizens and companies in view of the high energy prices. “Everyone is now telling you a little bit about what makes sense to them.”

With these sentences, Habeck tried to slow down an advance by Finance Minister Christian Linder (FDP), who had spoken out in favor of a tank discount. You now have to sit down and systematically go through all the measures discussed, said the Economics Minister. So far, there is still great disagreement in the traffic light coalition as to how exactly citizens and business should be relieved. One thing is clear: something has to happen quickly. An agreement should be reached by Wednesday.
