Dusseldorf The media company Axel Springer wants to oblige its almost 16,000 employees in Germany to indicate relationships with colleagues and superiors. This was confirmed by the company, which includes the newspapers “Bild” and “Welt”, the Handelsblatt. The British “FT” had previously reported on it.

The reason for the move is the scandal surrounding the former “Bild” editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt. There had already been compliance proceedings against Reichelt in the spring on charges of abuse of power, for example against women. After an internal investigation, Reichelt was allowed to continue his job in a dual leadership position.

Media reports recently showed that the 41-year-old did not clearly separate personal and professional life afterwards and had told the board of directors the untruth. As a consequence, Springer relieved Reichelt of his duties on October 18.
