Elon Musk’s electric car maker is not a “money incinerator”

Dusseldorf The omens are actually not good for Tesla, which will publish its new quarterly figures on Wednesday after the US stock market closes. Tesla boss Elon Musk has described the new factories in Austin and Grünheide as “giant money incinerators”. Production there is starting more slowly than planned due to technical difficulties, especially in battery cell production.

Nevertheless, some analysts are in good spirits before the figures are presented. They are hoping for a better second half of the year. Credit Suisse’s Dan Levy expects higher profit margins because “Tesla will increase the pace of production.”

With Musk’s statements, you have to look closely at the passage of time. The 51-year-old lamented the high costs at the Austin and Grünheide factories in an interview published in late June. But it was held at the end of May.
