san francisco Donald Trump is back on Twitter. Elon Musk has reactivated the former US President’s account. The top politician has his most important instrument back. A few days after Trump announced that he wants to become President of the USA again in 2024, he can use Twitter to reach an audience of millions.
Even if Trump hesitates at first, he will hardly turn down the possibilities of Twitter. He reached around 89 million followers there, while today it shouldn’t even be a twentieth of that on his own platform Truth Social.
With the storming of his followers on the US Capitol, Twitter had banned him. Musk kicked out the old management. Now the way is clear for Trump.
It was wrong that the platform banned Trump for life. Musk had rightly criticized the approach. He promised to do everything better. Three weeks ago he announced that an independent committee would be set up to discuss controversial decisions on Twitter. It is precisely this promise that Musk has now broken with the decision about Trump.

Musk has risen to become the richest person in the world as head of the electric car manufacturer Tesla and as CEO of the rocket company SpaceX. When he bought Twitter for $44 billion, he originally promised to make the platform a platform for free speech.
Now it’s clear: For him, Twitter is above all a way of translating economic power into political power. Before the important midterm election two weeks ago, Musk called for the Republicans to be elected. Now he’s giving Trump a digital megaphone. This makes him a huge power factor for the US presidential election in 2024.
