Electrify America builds charging stations for the land of pickups

new York When VW manager Giovanni Palazzo left Wolfsburg in 2018 to become CEO of Electrify America, the young company had not yet built a single charging station. The US subsidiary of VW is now building three to four new stations every week.

“Today we are the largest open network for fast charging stations in the USA,” Palazzo told Handelsblatt. By the end of the year, the network, which is open to all brands of e-cars, should include 800 stations with a total of 3500 so-called e-chargers. By the end of 2025 there should be 1,700 stations with 9,500 e-chargers.

The founding of Electrify America goes back to the Volkswagen diesel scandal. At that time, the US had obliged the automaker to invest a total of two billion dollars in a nationwide electrical charging network over ten years.
