Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.6 and 7.7 occurred in Kahramanmaraş on February 6. Many provinces in Southeast Anatolia and the Mediterranean region were affected by these earthquakes. Among these provinces, Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Adıyaman, Adana, Gaziantep, Diyarbakır, Osmaniye, Şanlıurfa, Kilis and Malatya were heavily damaged. Ak Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, in his statement today, stated that in line with the decision made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Elazığ will be among the provinces affected by the earthquake.
Before this decision, Republican and People’s Party Elazig Deputy Gürsel Erol stated that they made a request to President Erdogan to include Elazig among the 10 provinces affected by the earthquake.
