Dusseldorf Home office instead of a hotel, suit shoes instead of flip-flops, blazers instead of bikinis. Especially on the first days after vacation, work is difficult for many employees. Studies show that two-thirds of workers are jetlagged after returning from vacation.

Researchers refer to this as post-holiday syndrome. And that could be more difficult this year than usual, says Leipzig work psychologist Hannes Zacher. Because holidays have often had to be canceled in recent years due to the pandemic, many employees had particularly high expectations of holidays this year. “It could be all the more difficult for them to return to the workplace with its requirements and rules.”
