Milan The major Italian bank Unicredit wants to support companies and private customers in the energy and economic crisis with measures totaling eight billion euros. Unicredit will therefore offer companies loans with a volume of five billion euros, which should secure additional liquidity for the companies.

Corporate customers could benefit from a grace period of up to six months. With a further three billion euros, payment breaks from credit card obligations and mortgage loans should be made possible.

At the beginning of August, the Italian government passed an aid package worth billions to cushion the consequences of price increases and the uncertainty in the energy supply.

Unicredit’s offer to suspend mortgage payments for up to twelve months is also aimed in part at companies and households that were unable to take advantage of government subsidies.
