Microsoft Surface SE is introduced! Here are the features and price

Microsoft introduced the education-oriented Surface SE laptop model and the Windows 11 SE operating system.

Windows 11 SE will be faster for education

Microsoft has created a new version of Windows 11 designed for students and schools. Windows 11 SE will ship only on low-cost laptops designed for the K-8 classes.

Microsoft is struggling to understand why schools and students are flocking to Chromebooks. The company has previously tried an S Mode that locks Windows 10 to apps in the Microsoft Store. The restriction was more sensitive to end users and schools as there weren’t enough apps in the Microsoft Store for it to make sense.

Windows 11 SE takes a different approach to a version of Windows for schools. In fact, it also draws attention with its resemblance to Windows 10X before Microsoft’s cancellation. Windows 11 SE will only be available on new low-cost devices and for schools and education customers. While Windows 11 SE is naturally optimized for Microsoft Edge, Office, and Microsoft’s cloud-based services, it won’t be limited to just Microsoft apps.

Windows 11 SE will have very minor changes compared to the standard edition. Microsoft has spent the last 18 months talking to teachers and students to get feedback on their efforts to date on low-cost Windows laptops. Thanks to this feedback, apps can always launch in full screen mode in Windows 11 SE. Microsoft has removed the window editor that allows you to place apps side by side in this version.

Windows 11’s new Widgets section was removed on SE after Microsoft found it distracting in a classroom setting. Microsoft Edge it will also be configured to accept Chrome extensions that are turned off by default in Windows 11. Windows 11 SE will also back up documents to OneDrive by default with offline support to make it easier for students to use these Windows 11 SE laptops beyond the classroom.

Microsoft to the training channels of Windows 11 SE laptops expects to arrive later this year and by 2022, as the full training purchase season begins.
