Berlin, Dusseldorf The sectors involved in the heat transition are relieved to see that the traffic light coalition will now adopt the amendment to the Building Energy Act (GEG) before the summer break.
Kerstin Andreae, General Manager of the Federal Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), said the coalition agreement contained numerous significant improvements compared to the first drafts. “The changes make the law much more practicable. What is required is what can also be implemented without losing sight of the goal of climate neutrality by 2045,” said Andreae on Wednesday at her association’s annual congress. Municipal utilities, the housing industry and the manufacturers of heating systems also reacted largely positively.
A top group of SPD, Greens and FDP agreed on last-minute changes to the GEG draft on Tuesday, which the federal cabinet had already approved in April. This ended a week-long dispute between the coalition partners, which had unsettled business and consumers alike.
