E-Commerce Giant Will Start Receiving Payments with Bitcoin

Japan’s e-commerce giant Mercari also plans to accept Bitcoin in payment transactions.

According to local sources, payments made with Bitcoin will be processed by Melcoin, a company affiliated with Mercari.

Melcoin will act as an intermediary in transferring the money to the seller in payments made with Bitcoin. It is unknown what kind of transaction fee policy will be applied in Bitcoin payments.

The price of products sold on Mercari will continue to be displayed in Japanese yen.

Mercari founded its own Bitcoin exchange in March 2023. Users can purchase Bitcoin through their bank accounts using the mobile application.

The company in the third quarter of 2023 2.8 billion yen ($19.4 million) earned income.
