DWS whistleblower Desiree Fixler calls for more layoffs

Frankfurt Desiree Fixler fared like so many whistleblowers. When the former head of sustainability at DWS raised serious greenwashing allegations in the Wall Street Journal, she was ridiculed, defamed and dismissed as an ignorant American in a German company.

On Wednesday, however, she was able to record an important success: one day after the raid on the offices of DWS and the parent company Deutsche Bank, with which the fund provider shares IT systems, DWS CEO Asoka Wöhrmann announced his withdrawal. He surprisingly fired Fixler last March after less than a year in office. The compliance expert now sees herself as confirmed, but not yet there.

“This is a good start. But Deutsche Bank and DWS have problems with their corporate culture, in the top ranks,” Fixler told Handelsblatt. “If Deutsche Bank boss Christian Sewing really wants to end greenwashing, then he has to keep cleaning up.”
