Do we need nuclear power longer?

Dusseldorf Russia is sending less and less gas to Europe, the nuclear power plants in France are failing in droves and prices are rising all the time – Germany is in the middle of the energy crisis.

At the end of the year, the last three nuclear power plants are supposed to go offline. It has been discussed for weeks whether the piles should not be able to supply electricity beyond the end of the year. That would be possible.

But what is the point of the so-called stretching operation and does nuclear power in Germany need to be extended? There are answers in the new episode of Handelsblatt Green & Energy in conversation with Felix Christian Matthes, environmental economist and energy expert at the Öko-Institut.
