Munich In the future, Deutsche Post will appear under the name DHL Group. From July 1, the entire group will be managed under the brand name and the associated logo, which is known in Germany above all for the parcel division of the same name, the Post announced on Monday.

More than 90 percent of the group’s sales are already generated under this brand, the new CEO Tobias Meyer justified the decision. It reflects the company’s transformation into an international logistics group in recent years. “We almost exclusively use the DHL brand in all markets outside of Germany,” said Meyer.

The Post took the name DHL from the US parcel service founded in 1969 and sold to it in 2002. The three letters stand for its company founder Adrian DAlsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn.

In Germany, the company will continue to appear as Deutsche Post. The name of the listed parent company Deutsche Post AG is also to remain the same. Only the ticker symbol will be changed from “DPW” to “DHL”.

The post is in line with the renaming. The Heidelberg Cement building materials group is now called Heidelberg Materials. A few months after the group’s appearance, the name of the listed AG was changed accordingly. Munich Reinsurance has been called Munich Re for years, but has not changed the traditional name of the parent company.
