Prem on alert over Russian deals

Premier League chiefs want their clubs to avoid doing business with Russia.

Tottenham have been in talks with Spartak Moscow over a deal to sell Davinson Sanchez for £13million.

Yet concerned League chiefs are ready to tell Tottenham they would prefer them to avoid a massively controversial deal, even though they do not have the power to stop such a move.

There would be an added complication for Spurs as they would face a massive legal issue.

Tottenham would have to prove to the UK government that the Russian club’s money for the Sanchez deal had not come from a source which has been hit with sanctions due to the war with Ukraine.

As a result, it makes the Sanchez transfer unlikely even though he has also yet to agree to the switch.

Sanchez has been at White Hart Lane since 2017, joining from Ajax in a £42m deal.

He only made eight starts last season after falling out of favour due to poor form and looks set to be sold.

There has also been interest from Real Betis, Sevilla and Galatasaray.
