JOSH Duggar has been found guilty of child pornography charges and taken immediately into custody after a dramatic court case.
Duggar, 33, had been arrested and charged earlier this year with receiving and possession of child pornography.
The jury reached its verdict and found him guilty on Thursday morning after beginning deliberations on Wednesday afternoon.
The ex-TLC star now faces up to 20 years behind bars on each guilty count. He is expected to be sentenced in four months.
Josh’s lawyers said Thursday then plan to appeal the case.
Many members of the Duggar family sat in on the trial, offering support to their fallen family member.
Siblings Jana, Jason, Joy-Anna, her husband Austin Forsyth, Justin, Jessa, Jill and Jill’s husband Derick Dillard, along with father Jim Bob, were all present at some point.
Josh’s wife Anna was also repeatedly seen arriving at court with her husband during the trial.

Who prosecuted the case?
Trial Attorney William G Clayman of CEOS and Assistant US Attorneys Dustin Roberts and Carly Marshall of the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Arkansas prosecuted the Josh Duggar case.

A US attorney’s statement was also included in the press release from the Department of Justice.
“Over 7% of the cases sentenced in the year 2020 in the Western District of Arkansas were child pornography and sexual abuse cases,” said US Attorney Clay Fowlkes for Western Arkansas.
“Our office is focused on expending all the resources necessary to the very important work of protecting children in Arkansas and elsewhere. This verdict sends the message that these cases are a top priority for our office.”
“This verdict also demonstrates that no person is above the law. Regardless of wealth, social status, or fame, our office will continue to seek out all individuals who seek to abuse children and victimize them through the downloading, possession, and sharing of child pornography.”

After the verdict was announced, the Department of Justice released a statement about Josh Duggar’s trial and conviction.
“Today’s verdict sends a message that we will track down and prosecute people who download and view child sexual abuse material, regardless of the lengths they go to conceal their conduct,” said Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite Jr of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.
“I am grateful for the efforts of the prosecution team and our law enforcement partners who helped ensure the defendant would be held accountable for his crimes.”
“I hope today’s conviction serves as a reminder of the department’s steadfast commitment to bringing to justice those who callously contribute to the online sexual exploitation of young children.”

When was Josh Duggar arrested?
On April 29, 2021, Josh Duggar was arrested on charges relating to child sexual abuse materials.
His charges include one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
In November of 2019, Homeland Security investigated Wholesale Motorcars, Duggar’s place of employment.
At the time, downloads allegedly made on a computer were flagged by the Little Rock Police Department and traced to Duggar’s IP address.
Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Gerald Faulkner described the files he found “in the top five of the worst of the worst that I’ve ever had to examine.”

How long will Josh Duggar go to jail?
Attorney Abtin Mehdizadegan told The US Sun: “He is looking at spending five years minimally in prison.”
“There’s an exception to that if he can get relief from some mandatory minimums if you provide substantial assistance to the prosecution, but he certainly did not do that.”
“He took us to a full trial. So I would expect that he’ll probably get 10 years.”

Josh Duggar’s parents are Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar.
Jim Bob is a former member of the Arkansas House of Representatives and is currently running for Senate in the state.
