Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy features many outfits that players can unlock in-game for every character. While Star-Lord has 13 different outfits that players can unlock and choose from, every other Guardian has eight. Finding every costume takes a little time and exploration throughout almost every chapter of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Many of the outfits are in secret areas that have crafting materials scattered throughout the tight spaces. Be sure to craft the Components Localizer early on, one of the best perks in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy that allows Star-Lord to see when crafting components are nearby. A crafting component icon will pop up in the top right corner of the HUD to indicate when these items are nearby.
Nearly every chapter has at least one outfit for players to unlock in Guardians of the Galaxy. With the exception of chapters 9, 11, 15, and 16, players should expect to find crawls spaces and hard-to-reach places containing a Guardian outfit. Players who pre-ordered Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy did receive an outfit for each character, but these are outfits that can be found in-game as each location is explored. Additionally, several Star-Lord outfits are received after beating Guardians of the Galaxy.
Star-Lord has a wide variety of costumes, from space tech to ’80s themed outfits. Five of Star-Lord’s outfits can’t be earned until after beating Guardians of the Galaxy, so he’ll have the same amount of in-game outfits to find as every other Guardian. These are all of the outfits for Star-Lord and their locations in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy:
- Space-Lord: Complete Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
- Sun-Lord: Complete Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
- Social-Lord: Complete Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
- Sleek-Lord: Complete Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
- City-Lord: Complete Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. With so many outfits being earned post-completion, players should unlock the best abilities in Guardians of the Galaxy as soon as possible.
- Nova-Lord (Chapter 2): After helping Nikki move a yellow box, Star-Lord is presented with the options to encourage her or take control. Make either choice and crawl underneath the pipes behind Nikki to find Star-Lord’s first outfit.
- Star-Lord: Guardians of the Galaxy 2014 Movie Outfit (Chapter 6): After arriving in Knowhere and splitting up with Gamora and Drax, keep heading towards the mission objective. At the pink Spirit Tree, three children are playing with finger guns and there are red pipes to the left of them. Jump over the railing and follow the pipes under the stairs to find Star-Lord’s 2014 movie outfit.
- Bad-Lord (Chapter 8): Follow Drax through the tunnel after he jumps into the red warp drive fluid. Have Drax pick up the pillar and place it by the tunnel exit where they just came from. Jump up the pillar and head into the room to find Star-Lord’s next outfit.
- Apocalypse-Lord (Chapter 12): After clearing the enemies on the celestial brain through Guardians of the Galaxy’s chaotic combat, have Drax move the large box to progress onward to the next area. Reach the panel that Gamora can anchor onto to throw Star-Lord up to a higher platform. Star-Lord’s next outfit is at the end of the platform.
- War-Lord (Chapter 13): Cross the huge skeleton after receiving the plasma shot ability. Afterward, look to the ceiling near the small pool of water. Shoot the ice, then use Groot’s ability to bridge the gap and find this outfit.
- Team-Lord (Chapter 14): This box is on the upper platform at the end of the wind tunnel. Navigate the tunnel with Star-Lord’s wind element to reach the chest.
- Gold-Lord (Chapter 14): Automatically earned at the beginning of chapter 14.
Gamora has a secret outfit that can originally be seen in chapter 2 when Star-Lord was being escorted by Nikki, but it can’t be reached until chapter 7. While players may think that the second outfit can be obtained in chapter 2, only Star-Lord’s Nova-Lord outfit can be earned. These are all of the outfits for Gamora and their locations in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy:
- Gamora: Guardians of the Galaxy 2014 Movie Outfit (Chapter 3): After defeating the jelly-cube monsters and lowering the Resistance ship wing on Seknarf Nine, the team makes their way through a forest. At the giant red plant, take a sharp right and head as far away from the plant as possible. There will be a crawl space on the left leading into a small cavern. It’s a circular path, so follow the path to find Gamora’s movie outfit.
- Gamora’s Nova Corps (Chapter 7): Finish fighting the flying Nova Corp soldiers and follow the path that was walked with Nikki in chapter 2. On the way back to her hideout is a flight of stairs with water at the bottom coursing with electricity. Reroute the electricity away from the water, and have Gamora cut down the pipes to retrieve her outfit.
- Gamora’s Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Chapter 10): This outfit is behind the waterfall of the river that has to be crossed shortly after entering the cave. While Gamora’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie costume looks great, the Apocalypse outfit is by far her most terrifying.
- Gamora: Casual Kill (Chapter 12): After Drax breaks a hole in the floor, slide down the ramp and turn around to find a crawl space. Head inside to retrieve Gamora’s outfit.
- Gamora: Black Vortex (Chapter 13): This Gamora outfit is found later on in chapter 13 when Gamora can be deployed to that flat red hillside. Once she’s set up, use Gamora to propel Star-Lord up onto the ledge and jump across the gap to reach her next outfit.
- Gamora: Chosen Daughter (Chapter 14): This outfit is located in the area where geysers have to be frozen. Freeze geysers on the left, jump across them, and head inside the small gap. Gamora’s outfit is on the inside.
- Gamora’s Golden Guardian: Automatically earned at the beginning of chapter 14.
Rocket’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2014 movie outfit is the first item and outfit players will be able to find in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Additionally, he has an outfit location in chapter 4 that is determined by the decision to sell him or Groot. Neither decision affects the availability of the outfit, only where it’s located. These are all of the outfits for Rocket and their locations in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy:
- Rocket: Guardians of the Galaxy 2014 (Chapter 1): Find this outfit after Rocket mentions the right path is a dead end. Drop down the blue metal platform on the right to find the outfit inside the blue structure.
- Rocket’s Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Chapter 4): After choosing to sell Groot to Lady Hellbender, the remaining team will take an elevator down from the throne room. As the other Guardians go left, head right to find Drax’s outfit. Hop over the bar table, then head to the back of the area and look for a circular table near some boxes. Crawl through the hole in the boxes to find Drax’s movie outfit.
- Rocket’s Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Chapter 4): After choosing to sell Rocket to Lady Hellbender, continue to escape through the sewers until the pathway reaches a fork. As the other Guardians of the Galaxy head right, head left to find the outfit in the blocked pathway.
- Rocket’s Nova Corps (Chapter 7): After fighting the second wave of enemies while raising the elevator power will need to be rerouted to get it moving again. Rocket will open two rooms, and his Nova Corps outfit can be found in the room on the left.
- Rocket’s Hero of Halfworld (Chapter 10): After leaving the small cave, jump up onto the ledge located on the right-hand side of the exit. Keep edging along the rock face to reach Rocket’s outfit on the other side.
- Rocket: The Smuggler (Chapter 12): In the Knowhere marketplace, the path wants to lead Star-Lord to the left. Keep going straight, and on the right is a blockage to clear with the wind element. Rocket’s outfit is on the other side.
- Rocket: The Stinger (Chapter 13): After unlocking the plasma element for Star-Lord’s blasters, find two plants close together in the far right-hand corner of the area. Destroy the plants and find Rocket’s next outfit.
- Rocket’s Golden Guardian: Automatically earned at the beginning of Chapter 14.
There isn’t much to say about Groot’s outfits, as half of them look similar to one another. Fortunately, most of Groot’s outfits are easy to find and require little exploration. These are all of the outfits for Groot and their locations in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy:
- Groot: Guardians of the Galaxy 2014 Movie Outfit (Chapter 1): After reuniting with Groot, head through the doorway he came from and turn right. Go through the crawl space to find Groot’s movie outfit.
- Groot’s Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Chapter 3): After defeating the tailed slakebeasts, Star-Lord will grab the electric cage. Groot will need to build a bridge to continue forward. Cross his bridge, and turn left. Destroy the grey goo to enter a cave and freeze the water with Star-Lord’s elemental blasters to create an ice platform to climb. Continue climbing until Star-Lord is out of the cave and find Groot’s outfit on the edge of the cliff. Even Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy songs can’t ease the terror of this outfit’s looks.
- Groot’s Nova Corps (Chapter 5): Groot’s next outfit is in the same room that glows with orange light and contains a scissor lift in the middle of the pathway. Before jumping up the machinery, grab Groot’s Nova Corps outfit behind the machinery in the orange light.
- Groot’s Annihilation: Conquest Suit (Chapter 10): As Groot lights the way, the mission will take Star-Lord left. Keep looking towards the right for a small gap in between the rocks with plants growing on both sides. Groot’s next outfit is inside.
- Groot’s Impaler (Chapter 12): Have Gamora cut through the wires in the area near the yellow vending machines. Use the wind element in Star-Lord’s blasters to pull apart the wall, and ask Drax to destroy the rubble. Ask Groot to make a bridge to the gate, and use the electric element to open the entrance. Finally, ask Rocket to explore the side vent to turn off the electrified water. Groot’s Impaler costume is on the right side of the area. While this doesn’t count as an issued squad order in Guardians of the Galaxy, the whole squad needs to be involved.
- Groot: Five o Clock Sprouts (Chapter 13): Cross the narrow ledge until the opening in the mountain is reached. Around the corner on the right is Groot’s outfit.
- Groot’s Golden Guardian: Automatically earned at the beginning of chapter 14.
Drax doesn’t receive his first outfit until Chapter 4, and the decision made to sell Groot or Rocket will impact how it can be reached. Neither decision will prevent players from being able to earn Drax’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2014 movie outfit, it just affects how the chapter continues to play out. These are all of the outfits for Drax and their locations in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy:
- Drax: Guardians of the Galaxy 2014 Movie Outfit (Chapter 4): After choosing to sell Groot to Lady Hellbender, the remaining team will sneak back into Lady Hellbender’s throne room. Behind the other side of the throne room is a walkway that leads to Drax’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie outfit.
- Drax: Guardians of the Galaxy 2014 Movie Outfit (Chapter 4): After choosing to sell Rocket to Lady Hellbender, the remaining team will eventually come across a drone. Avoid the drone, then go straight while the rest of the team heads left. An explorable side area will become visible, and Drax’s movie outfit can be found at the back of the area after dropping down.
- Drax’s Nova Corps (Chapter 5): This outfit is located early on in Chapter five shortly after the power is re-routed to unlock the door. There is a second door to unlock using Star-Lord’s visor. Direct power to this second door to find Drax’s Nova Corps outfit.
- Drax’s Cage Match (Chapter 8): After hijacking multiple skiffs, run around to the opposite side of the circular tower before heading through the door. Drax’s outfit is with the other cargo, and it stands out when using Star Lord’s visor scanner.
- Drax: Thanos Imperative (Chapter 12): Near the beginning of Chapter 12, jump on the large structure and across the gap to the next to find Drax’s outfit.
- Drax: Katathian Monk (Chapter 13): After facing the dangerous plants in the snowy field, go up the ramp to find a box in the open containing Drax’s outfit.
- Drax: Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Chapter 14): After crossing a Groot bridge, turn right to a path with an ice wall. Melt the ice wall to retrieve Drax’s next outfit.
- Drax’s Golden Guardian: Automatically earned at the beginning of Chapter 14.
