The Futurama revival has been a decade in the making. The last season of Futurama finished airing in September 2013. Initially running from 1999 to 2003, Futurama was canceled after four successful seasons, revived via four direct-to-video movies, renewed for another three seasons between 2010 and 2013, and then canceled again. As such, viewers were understandably eager to see more from Fry, Leela, Bender, and the rest of the Planet Express crew when Hulu rebooted the animated series yet again.
