Breaking Bad is not only known for its engaging story but for its compelling protagonist, Walter White; a regular man who turns into a mastermind in the drug trade. The show may not revolve around heists most of the time, but both Walter White and The Professor have a lot in common and fans of the show can expect to experience the same sort of thrills experienced in Money Heist here.

Evil Genius is very different from Money Heist in the sense that this is a documentary that’s focused on a real-life case — the murder of Brian Wells. This case gives a glimpse into the reality of a bank robbery heist and how things are actually done.

The ‘Collar Bomb Case’ lies at the center of this incredible four-part documentary and, while it isn’t a shiny and well-polished drama, its subject matter should be of great interest to Money Heist fans.

Fans of Money Heist‘s darker edge should definitely check out this methodical heist/revenge movie that sees a mysterious figure infiltrate an armored car company to lie in wait for the hijackers who wronged him.

Jason Statham is fittingly electrifying in his first on-screen collaboration with director Guy Ritchie for over 15 years and the fact that this movie is also a remake of a 2004 French feature named Cash Truck means that it has plenty of that European style of grit running throughout it.

• Available for purchase on Prime Video

Another outstandingly gritty crime movie of recent years, Den of Thieves takes a fairly conventional ‘cops and robbers’ approach to this story of highly-trained armored car thieves but it hits all the right notes for a character-driven heist story that seeks to leave an impression.

Gerard Butler gets to show off his dramatic prowess as much as he does his action skills and Money Heist fans are also likely to enjoy the movie’s final twist, encouraging them to go back over the story again to spot the things they missed.

Inception truly took the world by storm with its distinct blend of the science-fiction and crime thriller genres and the twists and turns brought on by secrecy and unreliable accounts of events make it as unpredictable as a show like Money Heist.

Rather than planning a traditional heist on a casino or bank, the team performing ‘inception’ must effectively hijack their target’s mind instead, implanting an idea in their subconscious through an elaborate dream narrative that they have designed. It’s a mind-bending twist on the idea of a heist movie that’s equal parts Heat and The Matrix.

Tension, deceit, backstabbing, gang warfare, and casinos — these are common themes in Ozark, and that alone should make it appealing to Money Heist fans. Also found on Netflix, this show is also set for its final season when it next drops.

The show has an excellent family dynamic, with the tension between the leading family members being thick enough to cut with a knife. It’s all about mind games and politics amongst the players involved, and with death being a very real consequence of any wrong move, the drama is pretty intense.

Tom Cruise’s long-running spy movie franchise, based originally on the TV show of the same name, has integrated complex and risky heists into its overall makeup since day one and the fourth film in the series, Ghost Protocol, took it to new heights in more ways than one.

Cruise’s stunts on the Burj Khalifa made headlines all over the world but it’s just one of many thrilling sequences throughout the thrilling action movie. It may have much more apocalyptic stakes than a show like Money Heist but anyone who loves elaborate heist plans will know that nobody does them quite like the IMF.

Now You See Me brought a magical twist to the heist genre. In the film, heists are planned and performed by a group of magicians, known as the Four Horsemen, who use psychological manipulation and illusionist tricks to rob banks and break into super secure facilities.

This remake of the Rat Pack classic of the same name was no cheap cash-in and not only superseded the original movie to be the definitive version but quickly became the yardstick by which all modern heist movies are measured.

Ocean’s Eleven combined a truly phenomenal cast of actors and while the stakes are always a little lower than Money Heist‘s, as the heist crew is robbing a casino, the drama and comedy are always top-shelf quality, especially due to the chemistry between lead stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon.
