Dax still without impulses – investor focus is on the US debt dispute

Dusseldorf The German leading index Dax started the trading week with a small plus. On Monday morning, the Frankfurt stock exchange barometer was up 0.2 percent at 15,942 points in the first hour of trading.

The focus of investors this week is primarily on the US budget dispute: If the US Congress does not raise the debt ceiling, this could lead to national bankruptcy and, as a result, to a recession in the US economy. Interest rates on US government bonds would rise and the dollar would depreciate.

At the end of the past trading week, continued concerns about the US regional banks sector also weighed on the mood on the stock exchange: After a temporary recovery, the prices of Pacwest, Western Alliance and Co. on Wall Street fell again, which added to the crisis of confidence in the banking industry strengthened.
