Dax focuses on the 16,000-point mark – but a new high for the year would be a surprise

Dusseldorf The gains from last Friday are being processed on the German stock market. In morning trading, the Dax was unchanged at 15,958 points compared to the close of trading on Friday.

Now many investors are asking themselves at the beginning of the week: Can the Dax establish itself above the 16,000 point mark in the long term? Already on the first day of trading in May, the leading German index reached a new annual high of 16,011 points. But the stock exchange barometer was only able to maintain this level for a few minutes.

It would be a surprise if the small rally last Friday with a plus of 1.4 percent seamlessly turned into a larger one and the Dax could establish itself above the 16,000 mark this week.

Because after a six-week climbing tour, which raised the leading index from 14,459 to 16,011 points, a breather of several weeks is more likely than a new record high of 16,290 points.
