Berlin There is a crustacean in the German financial administration whose existence – or rather non-existence – causes a lot of work for many Germans without them knowing it.
With the help of the “Languste”, abbreviation for real estate and property database, the data on tax-relevant properties in Germany should be digitized, bundled and made available nationwide. At least that was the plan in 2014.
But by the end of 2022, the crayfish will resemble a mythical creature that few within the financial administration have heard of – nobody has seen them before. According to Handelsblatt information, the start of the project is being delayed more and more. The database could have prevented the chaos in the property tax reform this year and saved the owners a lot of work.
The various property-relevant information from all over Germany should come together in the database and be available for the calculation of the property values - actually.
