Data breach in Cash App: 8 million people affected!

Cash App, a mobile payment application, has published a report stating that a former employee accessed customer records without permission and the company was exposed to a data breach. Although the report is now published, the incident occurred on December 10, 2021. The company did not disclose how many people were affected by the Cash App data breach. But the company is known to have contacted 8.2 million current and former users. Block, formerly known as Square, immediately launched an investigation after the breach. However, the company did not answer the question of why the former employee had access to this data. Cash App spokesperson said in a statement on the subject:

“At Cash App, we value customer trust and are committed to the security of customers’ information. Upon its discovery, we took steps to address this issue and launched an investigation with the help of a leading forensic firm. We know how these reports were accessed and we have notified law enforcement. In addition, we continue to review and strengthen administrative and administrative proceedings. We have taken technical measures to protect the information.”
