E-commerce giant eBay, which has been evaluating the crypto payment option for a long time, may be preparing to offer the crypto money payment option in March.
According to The Street’s report, eBay CEO Jamie Iannone spoke in an interview about whether the company will receive payments with crypto money in the future.
“We currently do not accept crypto. However, as a company, we are researching and evaluating new payment methods.
On March 10, we’re going to dig deeper into all of these things, payments, ads, and focus categories.”
Our priority is Generation Z!
Stating that the new payment methods the company is researching aim to attract younger customers, Iannone said that the Z Generation is a priority target.
Although eBay, one of the world’s leading platforms, started to deal with the NFT sector last May, it did not favor the idea of payment with cryptocurrencies.
However, the fact that the global surveys revealed the interest of the Y and Z generation in cryptocurrencies, also attracted the famous trade giant to the crypto money field.
“We opened Google Pay and Apple Pay. We have a partnership with Afterpay, a buy now pay later platform that caters to Gen Z in Australia. In this context, we continue to evaluate other forms of payment that we should receive on the platform.”
Established in 1995, eBay first brought up the idea of accepting payments with Bitcoin in 2013, when Bitcoin was under development in the world.
