Countries producing the most solar energy! Which rank is Turkey?

The whole world has decided to leave fossil fuels behind. Instead, it will turn to renewable energy sources. Of course, this transformation does not happen in a short time. European and US plans are generally on a 10-year projector. Asian countries like India, on the other hand, want to hold their hand a little faster. Here are the countries that produce the most solar energy…

Countries producing the most solar energy! Which rank is Turkey?

Turkey is in the top 10 among those who invest in and use solar panels in the field of renewable energy worldwide. Turkey ranks first in Europe and fourth in the world in panel production. However, when we look at the effective use, we see that it can only be placed in the 16th place.

When we look at the currently installed solar energy panels of all the countries of the world, China ranks first with a production of 306 thousand 973 MW. Just behind it is the USA with 95 thousand 209 MW and Japan with 74 thousand 191 MW.

While the use of solar energy panels is increasing day by day, the costs have started to decrease significantly.

Countries producing the most solar energy:

  • Chinese: 306,973 MW
  • USA: 95,209 MW
  • Japan: 74,191 MW
  • Germany: 58,461 MW
  • India: 49,684 MW
  • Italy: 22,698 MW
  • Australia: 19,076 MW
  • South Korea: 18,161 MW
  • Vietnamese: 16,660 MW
  • Spain: 15,952 MW
  • France: 14,718 MW
  • Holland: 14,249 MW
  • Brazil: 13,708 MW
  • United Kingdom: 13,689 MW
  • Ukraine: 8,062 MW
  • Turkey: 7 thousand 960 MW

Countries producing the most solar energy panels:

  • Chinese: 124 thousand MW
  • Vietnamese: 14 thousand MW
  • South Korea: 9 thousand 200 MW
  • Turkey: 7 thousand 960 MW
  • Malaysia: 7 thousand 400 MW
  • USA: 5 thousand 700 MW

The lists we shared above include data for 2021 and 2022. Accordingly, we see that Turkey lags behind in solar panel installation and production. However, it ranks 4th among the countries that produce the most solar panels.

Of course, a significant part of this production is currently exported. However, we see very promising 2030 targets as solar panel production increases with great momentum. It is stated that at the end of 7 years, renewable energy resources in Turkey will reach a level that will meet 70 percent of the current needs.

At this point, there will be 41 GW of Solar, 33 GW of wind, and 32 GW of Hydro-electric energy. Other resources will include coal and biomass with 5 GW each, and geothermal energy at 4 GW. In solar panel exports, it plans to overtake Vietnam in the near future to rank 2nd.
