Berlin The SPD, Greens and FDP are reaching out to the CDU/CSU. With amendments to the draft law, they are attempting to get the countries that are part of the Union, which have to agree to the citizens’ allowance in the Bundesrat, to their side. That shouldn’t work. Because the corrections that the negotiators of the traffic light factions have agreed on are more of a cosmetic nature.
Reimbursing a little less heating costs, insisting a little more on the obligation of the benefit recipient to cooperate – that should hardly be enough to invalidate the fundamental criticism of the Union.
This is primarily based on the two-year grace period during which the assets of beneficiaries are not touched. The fact that a family of four can have 150,000 euros on the high edge and still receive state benefits is actually difficult to convey to the taxpayers who have to finance it.
