Corona: Kretschmer swears Saxony on lockdown | Regional

From: M. DEUTSCHMANN

Dresden – Saxony’s Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (46, CDU) has announced another lockdown for Saxony in view of the current Corona development.

Before the Saxon state parliament, the CDU politician declared that a “pact is now needed between the self, the right to self-determination, and the we, the insight into the need for social cohesion.”

Intervention is needed now. “This coalition is ready to organize a hard and clear breakwater now,” said Kretschmer.

Corresponding measures would be coordinated and decided by Friday, said Kretschmer. According to BILD information, they should apply from next week to a maximum of December 15. The background to this is that the traffic light coalition’s new Infection Protection Act actually excludes lockdowns, but is intended to allow a transition period for the countries in which these measures apply.

In plain language: The Free State wants to go into lockdown again on Monday! And for everyone – whether vaccinated or not.

Schools and daycare centers should remain open

On the other hand, schools and daycare centers should remain open in any case. According to BILD information, however, a change to the restricted regular operation is planned, i.e. supervision or lessons in fixed groups.

The background to the new lockdown are demands from RKI boss Wieler, among others, to reduce contacts by 60 percent for at least two to three weeks. It is clear, said Kretschmer in front of the state parliament, that the groups of vaccinated and unvaccinated will be treated differently.

The coalition is currently negotiating which areas the new restrictions apply to. It has been agreed, however, that all major events, cinema, theater, concerts and Bundesliga soccer games with an audience will be canceled in the future. 2G consistently applies in retail, except for everyday goods.
