Meta’s Twitter rival platform Threads has achieved great success with its launch. The social media platform, which reached 100 million users in a short time, has now reached more than 150 million downloads. Another application that took advantage of this situation was able to increase the number of downloads by a significant number.
Threads apps messed up
The download numbers of another platform of the same name, which benefited from this exit of the Meta-signed Threads platform, have increased significantly recently. Threads, an alternative to the Slack application launched in 2019 with the support of Sequoia Capital, was flooded by users in the days following the launch of its new namesake.
Due to the confusion caused by the name similarity, many users downloaded the other Threads (Slack alternative) application instead of the Threads application offered by Meta. According to the figures shared by Data.ai, the Threads application, which is an alternative to Slack, has been downloaded more than 880,000 times on iOS alone. Threads (Slack alternative) managed to exceed 1 million downloads on Android.
The founders of the Threads (Slack alternative) application did not neglect to have fun with this situation. The Twitter account of the Threads (Slack alternative) app made fun of this using a famous ‘meme’. Emphasis was placed on Threads.com (Slack alternative) and Threads.net (Meta).
With this release, Threads (Slack alternative) application managed to become the 52nd most downloaded application in general. The application has also reached the third place in the business category. It is seen that especially the application has been downloaded in high numbers in Europe. The reason for this can be shown as Meta has not yet made Threads available in Europe.
