Confectionery manufacturer Hitschler slips into the red

Hurth Philip Hitschler-Becker joined the Hitschler family business four years ago at the age of just 29 as a representative of the fourth generation. Every child knows the wafers filled with soda, called UFOs, and the hitschies and the sour dragon tongues and cords also made the company, which was founded in 1929, well known.

The company saw double-digit growth during the pandemic and generated sales of around 58 million euros in 2021. The sweets, which should be completely vegan by the end of 2023, are produced in the Odenwald by around 100 employees. The company headquarters moved from Cologne to Hürth two years ago. 55 employees work on the Hitschler campus there.
