Berlin Vaccinated people who have already received a booster are to be exempted from the obligation to test, with a few exceptions. This is provided for in a draft resolution of the federal and state health ministers’ conference, which meets on Tuesday afternoon.

“Scientific evidence suggests that booster vaccination reduces both the risk of infection and the risk of further transmission,” it says. In addition, the decision would relieve the heavily used test capacities.

However, clinics and nursing homes should be excluded. “For access to medical and nursing facilities, a negative test result should continue to be required of people with a booster vaccination in order to protect the particularly vulnerable groups of people,” says the draft resolution.

Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) had already campaigned for the regulation in the health ministers’ conference last Monday. Lauterbach also wants to create an incentive for people who have been vaccinated twice to be “boosted”. The vaccination rate has recently increased noticeably, with the booster vaccinations playing a large part in this.
