Competition Authority Opened an Investigation against Çiçeksepeti

The Competition Authority launched an investigation against Çiçeksepeti for closing its platform services to third parties and acting in favor of its own dealers.

Competition Authority has recently technology companies has been following. In this process, companies that increase their specific gravity in their own sectors are often caught on the radar of the institution. Finally, Çiçeksepeti is facing an investigation opened by the Competition Authority.

Competition Authority cited law no. 4054 as justification

The statement made by the Competition Authority is as follows:

“The preliminary investigation conducted into the allegations that Çiçeksepeti Internet Services AŞ violated Article 6 of the Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition by closing its platform services to third parties and acting in favor of its own dealers was concluded by the Competition Board.

The Competition Board, which discussed the information, documents and findings obtained in the preliminary investigation at its meeting dated 11.01.2024, found the findings serious and sufficient; “It has been decided to open an investigation against Çiçeksepeti Internet Services Inc. with the number 24-03/23-M.”

Competition Authority, in the past For Çiçeksepeti had launched an investigation. In that investigation, which concluded in 2021, Çiçeksepeti made various commitments regarding competition issues, and these commitments were accepted by the Competition Authority.

In that case, the reason for the investigation was verbal warnings made by Çiçeksepeti to its dealers not to work with rival online flower sales sites, making competition difficult by setting high sales targets on special days and sending excess flowers and consumables.
