The management of domain names with the “.tr” extension in Turkey will be transferred to the TRABIS system as of September 14. So what awaits us with the new system?
We started to enter our homes in Turkey in 1993. Domain names with “.tr” extensionwas recorded and managed by the Middle East Technical University (METU) until May 5, 2019. However, on this date, the management and allocation of these domain names were transferred to the Information Technologies and Communications Authority, through the redelegation process before the Internet Corporation for Assigned Numbers and Names (ICANN).
On the same date, efforts were initiated to open a new era for “.tr” domain names. That work has finally come to an end and the TRABIS system, which will open a new page on the Internet in Turkey, has been made ready. System, It comes into effect as of today (September 14). Documentation requirement disappears when assigning some “.tr” domain names!
With the implementation of TRABIS, some domain names that have been acquired by submitting documents for more than 20 years are now undocumented, According to the “first come, first served” rule can be allocated. The domains in question will be as follows:
Domains that can now be retrieved without documents:
Domain names that were previously undocumented and will continue to be:

- name.tr
- us.tr
- tv.tr
- info.tr
- bbs.tr
Domain names that will continue to be received only by submitting a document:
- av.tr
- bel.tr
- dr.tr
- edu.tr*
- gov.tr*
- k12.tr*
- kep.tr
- pol.tr*
- tsk.tr*
*Domain names that can only be obtained through applications made by public institutions and organizations.

Applied all over the world with the TRABIS system Registry – Registrar modelwill now be fully implemented. Individuals or organizations that want to buy a domain name will be able to receive services from Registrars accepted by TRABIS. These organizations consist of:
