Once a game gets the green light from this process, it usually takes a week or two before it’s ready for release. While XDefiant went through this process in late July, it initially failed to pass compatibility.

Now Ubisoft is ready to ship the game again, leaving two possible outcomes. If the game goes off without a hitch, XDefiant could be released in mid or late September.

But it’s also possible that it will receive a conditional pass, meaning that XDefiant will only be allowed to release if it comes with a day-one patch to clean up any remaining issues. If such a situation occurs, the game’s release will be postponed to early or mid-October.

Rubin explains that most games leave plenty of wiggle room to allow for this process when deciding on a release date, but he didn’t want to go that route with XDefiant. rubin,

“Like so many things in this game, we didn’t take the typical route. So our real answer to the question of when we will release it is ‘as soon as we can’. And we will continue to update you with more information as it becomes available.” says.
