CNN and Fox in existential crisis – declining ratings and personnel chaos

New York, Washington It’s Thursday night, America is watching TV. The talk show “Erin Burnett OutFront” is running on CNN, in which four experts sit at the glass table and discuss the new charges against ex-President Donald Trump. Two slots later, Fox News shows footage from a surveillance camera in Las Vegas that allegedly shows a UFO landing. Then the broadcaster switched to Trump, who was accused on Thursday in connection with the storage of secret government documents.

So far, so normal. The television giants of the USA are professionals when it comes to strong pictures, big politics and shallow entertainment. But the two news flagships CNN and Fox News – one more liberal, the other right-wing conservative – are struggling with falling ratings, competition from streaming platforms and homemade scandals.
