Dusseldorf With rising gas and oil prices, firewood is becoming more and more attractive as an alternative source of heating. But heating with wood is also becoming more expensive: the prices for firewood and wood pellets were 85.7 percent higher in August 2022 than in the same month last year and have therefore grown significantly more strongly than consumer prices overall, according to the Federal Statistical Office. Prices are currently falling again, but experts expect a sudden increase as soon as household stocks are exhausted.
