Officials of the Guangdong province of China, bitcoin and cryptocurrency announced that 190 mining computers used in mining were confiscated and their operations were terminated.
According to local sources, the Guangzhou Development and Reform Commission has crashed an illegal mining facility in Guangzhou disguised as an electric vehicle charging station.
Authorities Seize $791,000 Value of Bitcoin Mining Equipment
The Guangdong province government has been taking strict measures against cryptocurrency mining activities in the region for some time, in line with the strict orders of the Chinese Communist Party. Commission officials announced that 190 mining machines hidden in an electric car charging station in the region were seized. It is stated that the total value of the mining equipment is around 5 million Yuan ($791,000).
The owner of the charging station in question recently leased the facility to a high-tech company and installed fences and security guards around it.
Mining Facility Found Hidden Inside Electric Car Charging Station
It turns out that the mining facility has been successfully hidden from government officials until now, thanks to the high energy consumption that must be used to charge electric cars. According to the data, the cryptocurrency facility operated for 1,000 hours and consumed 90 kilowatt-hours of energy before it was caught by the authorities.
Authorities first cut off the electricity to the cryptocurrency mining facility and asked the business owner to cease operations. After that, the owner of the business promised in writing that he would not carry out mining activities.
Local sources claimed that the operation meant success for the Guangdong government’s law enforcement officers.
China, which banned cryptocurrency mining activities months ago, does not officially have any Bitcoin mining facilities.
