China tightens bans to limit kids watching live streams!

The Chinese state has introduced two new policies for its minors, including the country’s largest platforms, Bilibili, Tencent and Douyin. These bans do not apply to platforms such as Twitch and TikTok. China’s initial policy was to prohibit underage viewers from sending money to broadcasters. However, younger users will still send money to live broadcasts with parental consent.

China’s second ban will also cover broadcasters. When a minor user watches a live broadcast after 10 PM, he will be told to forcibly close and his viewing will be blocked. The country banned children from participating in live broadcasts last year.

The Chinese state also banned the time children spend playing games in 2021, and then made the following statements;

“Many parents said that the problem of gaming addiction among teenagers and children seriously affects their physical and mental abilities, as well as their ability to learn and work. The effects are causing health and a host of societal problems.”
