During Saylor’s CEO MicroStrategy bought 129,699 Bitcoins. Although the company was in unrealized loss due to these Bitcoins, Saylor frequently emphasized that they would not give up on the Bitcoin policy.
As MicroStrategy’s second-quarter earnings were announced today, the CEO change took investors by surprise.
In the statement made by the company, it was stated that the new CEO will be Phong Le, who is currently the company president. Accordingly, Saylor will become the Chief Executive Officer and his role on the board of directors will continue.
Saylor has been the CEO of MicroStrategy since he founded the company in 1989.
Saylor stated that this position change will further strengthen Bitcoin strategies.
“I believe separating the roles of President and CEO will allow us to better pursue our two corporate strategies for growing our Bitcoin and enterprise analytics software business. As Chief Executive Officer, I will be able to focus more on our Bitcoin acquisition strategy and related Bitcoin advocacy initiatives. Phong will be empowered as CEO to manage overall corporate operations.”
