Chancellor Scholz shifts the lever in foreign and security policy. Finally, because democracy must be able to defend itself.

Nothing is like it was anymore. The strong speech by the Federal Chancellor on Sunday in the Bundestag means a turning point in the Berlin Republic. Olaf Scholz flips the switch and completely reorganizes foreign and security policy.

But Scholz and opposition leader Friedrich Merz first have to break away from the old ways of thinking. Of course, everyone is looking for a bit of security in their own positions. Especially the SPD and the Greens in their pacifist lines in security policy.
