Carlos Ghosn was one of the most powerful people in the automotive industry a few years ago. Ghosn, who was the head of the Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi partnership in 2018, was arrested on 19 November 2018 on charges of financial misconduct and abuse of power.

Carlos Ghosn wants to clear his name

Ghosn, who denied the allegations against him and blamed the Japanese legal system, was released on bail and under judicial control. Ghosn, whose case is still ongoing, fled to Lebanon via Istanbul on a private plane on 31 December 2019, while waiting for the hearing. The Lebanese-born businessman managed to leave the country in the big box where the sound systems of the music group that came to his home to give a concert were carried.

The businessman, who returned to Lebanon, is now trying to clear his name. Carlos Ghosn decided to sue Nissan and the other two companies of the partnership. Ghosn is also suing 12 people for fabricating material evidence, slander and defamation. The first hearing of the case opened in Lebanon is scheduled for September.

Carlos Ghosn, whose corruption has been talked about for a long time and which has been on the agenda with his escape, is currently on the wanted list by Interpol with a red notice. Ghosn, on the other hand, has denied these allegations from the very beginning, claiming that there was a conspiracy against him.

In an interview in 2021, Ghosn cited “no chance of winning any court case” as the reason for his illegal escape from Japan in December 2019. Stating that he could not defend himself in Japan, Ghosn argued that leaving Japan was the only solution. There is no explanation yet about the lawsuit filed by Carlos Ghosn.
