Cardano (ADA) founder Charles Hoskinson has confirmed that the highly anticipated Vasil upgrade will take place on September 22.
The company was able to officially announce the date after performing “extensive tests” of all core components.
The developers announced the development they gave on Twitter as follows:
“After the successful completion and extensive testing of all key components and confirmation of community readiness, the ADA Foundation and the ADA Foundation can announce today, September 22, for the Vasil upgrade on the Cardano mainnet.”
The Vasil update was originally scheduled for June, but has been delayed multiple times due to technical difficulties.

“The Most Important Update in Cardano’s History”
Cardano developer Input Output highlighted that the Vasil hard fork is the “most significant” upgrade to date as it will greatly increase the capacity of the network. ADA developers will also be able to build more sophisticated decentralized applications.
Input Output had to ensure that at least 75% of mainnet blocks were created with node version 1.35.3 in order to proceed with the upgrade.
Apart from that, it needed to incorporate around 25 exchanges representing the bulk of the ADA token liquidity, as well as the largest decentralized applications by total value locked.

The Cardano founder is currently following all these benchmarks “well” and therefore confident enough to officially confirm the hard fork date.
During the live stream, Input Output CEO Charles Hoskinson thanked the community for their patience and “stubborn loyalty.”
This hard fork is named after the deceased Bulgarian mathematician Vasil Dabov, who was a big supporter of ADA. Coincidentally, the hard fork will be launched on Bulgaria’s Independence day.
