With the decision published in the Official Gazette, the production of cannabis for medical purposes was allowed in Turkey.
While the importance of cannabis in the medical sector has been proven many times by many researches, today an important decision has been made in Turkey. With the decision published in the Official Gazette dated April 5, It was allowed to be produced for the purpose of obtaining the drug substance.
However, permits for cannabis production will not be issued directly to everyone. Cultivation or processing of cannabis to be produced for use in medicines, It will be made or will be made by the General Directorate of Turkish Grain Board. When necessary and according to the demand, the Directorate will be able to provide breeding to real or legal persons, according to the quota determined by the Presidency.
Cannabis decision published in the Official Gazette:
“Cannabis cultivation for fiber, seed and stem production and flower and leaf production for the production of pesticides is subject to the permission of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Permitted cannabis cultivation for fiber, seed and stem production is regulated by a regulation to be issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The cultivation and/or processing of cannabis for the production of APIs is done or outsourced by the General Directorate of Turkish Grain Board. When necessary, it can be made by real or legal persons under the control of the General Directorate of Turkish Grain Board, in line with the quota determined by the President, depending on the country’s supply and demand situation. In the cultivation of cannabis for the production of drug substance, taking all kinds of measures to prevent the production of cannabis exclusively, the procedures and principles regarding the harvest, processing, distribution, export or sale of cannabis are determined by the regulation to be issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, after taking the opinions of the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Health.
The decision came into effect from today. The lines of cannabis cultivation will be published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. will be determined by regulation.
