Can ChatGPT moderate Handelsblatt podcasts in the future?

Dusseldorf The success of the chatbot ChatGPT has triggered a real race among the tech giants: Microsoft is working closely with the developer company OpenAI and wants to invest billions in the company. The successor service GPT-4 could soon be combined with Microsoft’s search engine Bing. According to the San Francisco start-up, a premium version for $20 a month will also be available. ChatGPT is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and trained on a massive amount of data to mimic human speech.

The Facebook parent company Meta wants to compete with ChatGPT this year with its own new AI applications. And the search engine top dog Google has its own chatbot called Lamda in the pipeline, to which a former software engineer even attributed consciousness.

Silicon Valley reporter Stephan Scheuer talks about the AI race in the podcast: “The example of OpenAI shows that it doesn’t necessarily have to be a giant that has a decisive influence on a new technology.”

Scheuer believes that despite all concerns, 2023 will be the year of so-called generative AI. This refers to AI models that can independently create new texts or images without human intervention.

Interview with a bot

According to experts, this in turn could have drastic consequences for professional groups that have previously earned their money with the production of texts, sounds or images.

Handelsblatt Today host Anis Micijevic asked ChatGPT if he needed to worry about his own job. The response: “I think it’s unlikely in the near future that a language model like me will be able to fully take on a job like that of Handelsblatt Today moderator.”

However, it is important to note that technology is constantly evolving and there may be advances in the future that could challenge this assumption, the chatbot added in the human-machine conversation.
